Sunborn Gibraltar has been awarded the Green Key certificate

Sunborn Gibraltar Hotel, the only purpose built 5-Star Yacht Luxury hotel in the world, has been certified with the prestigious Green Key. It is the first business property in Gibraltar to have received the acclaimed award.

Berthed in Ocean Village on March 2014 and only 15mins walk from the airport and 5 mins into the city centre, the hotel recognises that it has a responsibility towards the environment and community beyond legal and regulatory requirements.

Since opening, the Sunborn has implemented several sustainable practices and actions to reduce its environmental impact:

• Use low energy light bulbs in all areas of the hotel.
• Continuously monitor and reduce our energy consumption (electricity & water).
• Reduce our paper trail through the efficient use of our office technology.
• Turn off unnecessary lights and taps.
• Buy in bulk.
• Provide Tesla Charging stations for hybrid/electric vehicles.
• Encourage the use of locally fresh products and fairtrade.
• Continue recycling glass, carboard/paper, plastic, wood and metals.
• Ensure the waters surrounding the hotel are kept clean.
